Breakups are tough, and when you are emotionally attached to someone, it's even tougher to leave them. When your loved one reaches their higher limit of being an asshole, you know you have to make some hard decisions. Always remember, you can find someone way better than your jerk-off ex, and the next relationship might actually be quite healthy for you.

A few years ago, my friend Lilly was in the same kind of situation. Lilly and her ex were in a relationship for more than four years, but at one point she had to make the tough decision to leave him. There was no happiness in the relationship anymore, and honestly, her ex had been an idiot on not only one but numerous occasions.

Six months post-breakup, Lilly had moved on from the bad phase and was seeing someone else. Fate had different things planned as one day. She stumbled upon her ex in a coffee shop, where she was waiting for her new boyfriend. It was an awkward small meeting. Both Lilly and her ex formally exchanged greetings.

Lilly seemed to be quite happy with her life, whereas it was quite evident from the look of things, Mr. Ex was struggling with life. A small conversation ensued between them, and in the end, Mr.Ex gave Lilly his number and said, "Call me if you want to catch up."

The day went on normally for Lilly apart from this one abnormal incident. Once home, she thought long and hard about running into her ex and was just about to pick up the phone and give in to her stupidity.

Lilly started to brainstorm about all the possible reasons that would prevent her from getting close to her Mr.Ex again.

She Thought:

● There was a strong and well thought out reason when she decided to end it with her ex.

● People do not change very easily, and things would turn out somewhat the same.

● Some men just want to get into bed with women. It is not worth spending time with such men.

● Gaining trust is really hard, but losing it is very easy. Regaining it is what is considered to be almost impossible.

● Mr.Ex was committing on the outside, but on the inside, he was always cheating which means he was never ready to commit.

Lilly gave it a long thought and concluded that she was just feeling like this because of seeing him. There wasn't really much to look forward to with him anyway. Everything was over, and it would have been stupid of Lilly to go back to a person who had already failed her a hundred times. Mr.Ex did not deserve the 101st chance, and for Lilly, well, true love was just around the corner. The man she was dating right now loved her more than anything in this world, and the two are now happily married.

If you are faced with a situation like my friend Lilly, you should know how to deal with it and avoid a possible slip into an ugly situation that you already ran away from. Don't give in to your stupidity because you are a strong independent woman, and you can make your own decisions without succumbing to your emotional weaknesses.
